Connecting With The Youth

To fulfill our baptismal promise “to love and nurture them in Christ” and to embrace the energy they bring, we provide many opportunities for children and their families to learn faith stories, build friendships, and find their place in our community.

Learning and Activities

Every third Friday during the school year, Friday Fun Night (FFN) runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Parents can drop off their children at the Christian Education (CE) building for games, food, music, and story time. Children from age 2 through sixth grade are welcome, and a special helper provides age-appropriate activities for preschool children. Registration is requested. Please contact the church office to connect with Linda DeVries, our children’s ministries leader.

Confirmation allows young people to affirm their faith and become adult members of the church. This yearlong class is generally held in eighth grade. However, if it fits a family’s schedule better or if a student missed their confirmation year, seventh graders and high school students are welcome to join. The curriculum includes regular classes on the Bible, Moravian history, and current global and local ministries, alongside service opportunities inside and outside the church. Interested parents or youth should contact a pastor.

Our Care for Creation committee reminds us of our call to stewardship. One ongoing project is our monthly plastic bag collection. These bags are recycled into beautiful park benches. On the first Sunday of the month, we welcome donations of both plastic bags and food for the pantry before and after worship.

The Racial Justice and Mental Health teams are among our newest ministries, connecting our congregation to vital contemporary conversations as we bring God’s love and compassion to the world. Upcoming pilgrimages, speakers, and action events are highlighted on our Central Moravian Church Events page.

Central is proud of its long-standing connections to the international Moravian Church, including partnerships with Nepali Moravian Ministries and Sikonge, Tanzania. For nearly 40 years, we have supported orphans and community members in Tanzania with funding for education, healthcare, and food assistance. Tanzania is home to the largest Moravian population in the world.

Our congregation offers camperships for children wishing to attend weekend or summer Moravian camps at the Hope Conference and Renewal Center in Hope, New Jersey. For information about Pre-Primary, Primary, Middler, Swimming, and Musical Theater summer camps, as well as the Girls’ Winter Retreat, visit camphope.org.
