Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Event
Second Baptist Church is continuing its long-standing tradition of celebrating the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and has partnered with Central Moravian, Bethlehem Area Moravians (BAM), Moravian University’s School of Theology, and Bethlehem Interfaith Group (BIG) to create a community-wide celebration this year on Sunday afternoon, January 18, in Foy Hall. Stop by any
time between 2 and 3 p.m. to journey through history while enjoying light refreshments as young members of Second Baptist embody historical figures including Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, and Dr. King in the lobby. At 3 p.m., presentations celebrating Dr. King’s interfaith legacy begin in Foy Hall Auditorium with speakers from Christian, Jewish and Muslim traditions sharing their insights. Music and dance performances on stage will follow as well as a renowned performer presenting Dr. King’s oratory. Since January 18th is Christian Unity Sunday in the Moravian Church, what better way to demonstrate our unity with Second Baptist Church and our commitment to our interfaith brothers and sisters?
