Kintsugi Workshop

August 26, 2023 @ 9:30 am

What is Kintsugi? Come join us on August 26 in Nitschmann Hall to find out. Coffee and snacks at 9:30 a.m. Program starts at 10 a.m. A modest $10 for lunch and supplies will be collected at the workshop. The practice of Kintsugi—repairing broken vessels by sealing the cracks, then painting them gold—is a remarkable art. The Japanese believe the golden cracks make the pieces even more precious and valuable.

It’s beautiful to think of this practice as a metaphor for your life, to see the broken, difficult, or painful parts of you as radiating light, gold, and beauty. Kintsugi teaches you that your broken places make you stronger and better than ever before. When you think you are broken, you can pick up the pieces, put them back together, and learn to embrace the cracks.

Although we will change some of the supplies used in the classical kintsugi, you can click here to see how it’s done, https://youtu.be/TQW8t6w0Cy4

Please join us on August 26 for this fun and meaningful workshop offered by the Mental Health Team. No prior experience needed. Registration is required and is limited. Please contact Diane Kessler at 610-564-9994 or [email protected].
