CROP Walk –New Route, Same Great Cause

Help raise money for local and international hunger by walking with us on Sunday, October 19th! The Bethlehem Running Festival is on October 19; therefore, Central’s worship is at 12 p.m. followed by the CROP Walk. We invite all participants to gather at 1:15 p.m. in the lower level of the Christian Education building (parking available in C. E. parking lot) for a pizza lunch, registration, and opening Program. The walk will kick off at 2 p.m. What is the CROP Walk? It’s a walk with a purpose; 25% of all funds will stay in Bethlehem feeding hungry people and 75% will go to international hunger relief through Church World Service. This year’s walk is about 2 miles through many of the newly inscribed World Heritage properties, taking you down Church Street into the Colonial Industrial Quarters and up Spring Street to the first stop – the site of Essentials Café, one of our recipients of the CROP Walk. Then, we will walk over the Broad Street bridge and up to Center Street to get to Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering at Christ UCC Church, another recipient of the walk’s funds. Other recipients include New Bethany Ministries, Freezer Gatherers, and Lehigh Conference of Churches. All of these agencies work to supply food to hungry people in Bethlehem through food pantries, access to fresh produce, emergency meals/ housing, etc. There will be a shorter route available as well.
