DESCRIPTION:New Adult Sunday School – Nov. 5 at 10 a.m.\nFrom Sojourners\, Friendship Bible\, Coffee Class and Stories for Life\, Central has been blessed by opportunities for adults\nto gather on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.\, before or after worship services\, for Sunday School. We want to bring this\ntradition back and encourage you to join us any Sunday you are free for our new adult Sunday School class at 10 a.m. in\nNitschmann Hall (lower level of the C. E. building). We are so excited to have the leadership of Dr. Brigidda\nBell\, assistant professor of New Testament at the Moravian Theological seminary. Her focus is on early Christianity and\nits people and ritual practices that animate the texts of the New Testament. \nOur Sunday School will try to share more background on the lectionary passage being shared on Sunday in worship. We\nalso might look at an occasional series on a particular Bible study topic. \nBest news? There is no preparation needed. Come anytime you can\, no need to make a commitment to every Sunday.\nAnd\, we’ll have coffee and an array of hot beverages too!

DESCRIPTION:Change of Worship Schedule for Next Sunday\, October 22\nDue to the impact of the Bethlehem Running Festival on the community\, we will need to change the schedule for worship next Sunday\, October 22\, 2023. The running of the half marathon will cause road closures from 8:05 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. in different areas of the City of Bethlehem. There will be only one worship service that day. It will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Light refreshments will be served following the 1 p.m. worship. Children and youth Sunday School will be held at 12 p.m. in the C. E. building; lunch will be a part of their lesson! We look forward to everyone’s participation as you are able.

Like a crèche\, a putz tells the story of Jesus’ birth with carved figures.  A cherished tradition\, the Putz (from the German word putzen\, meaning “to decorate”) retells the wonderful story of Christ’s birth through narration and music\, while tiny lights illuminate each miniature scene. The figures\, many of them antiques of German origin\, are nestled amidst live moss\, driftwood and rocks. The practice of putz building is uniquely Moravian. Bethlehem’s first settlers brought their putz figures with them in the 18th century. In Victorian days\, it was the custom in Bethlehem for Moravians to “go putzing” during the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s\, enjoying others’ putzes. \nThe Putz opens to the public Thanksgiving Friday\, November 25 and will be open Thursday – Sunday\, Nov. 25 – Dec. 23.  Hours are Thursday & Fridays 1-7 pm\, Saturdays 10 am – 8 pm\, and Sundays 1 – 5 pm. DESCRIPTION:Central’s traditional Star and Candle Shoppe\, open in the C. E. Building each year during the hours of the Christmas Putz\, will operate as “Pop-up” shops this season. That means that each of the four weekends of the shop will be coordinated by a different individual or group.\nThe first weekend\, Nov. 26 – 27\, will be coordinated by Carol Reifinger; the second weekend\, Dec. 3 – 4\, by the Fundraising Committee; Linda Wickmann will lead the third weekend\, Dec. 10 – 11\, and for the final weekend\, Dec. 17 – 18\, the History Committee will be in charge.\nAlthough each Pop-up shop can stand on its own\, you can count on the return of many of your favorite crafters\, including stained glass artisans and unique jewelry designers\, plus some surprise crafters and items each weekend.
