SUMMARY:Adult Forum - Wisdom
DESCRIPTION:Fall Adult Forum – Wisdom \nFollowing a sermon this summer by The Rev. Steve Simmons on Lady Wisdom in Proverbs 8\, one of our members asked several questions. Just who is Wisdom? How did concepts of Wisdom develop in Judaism? Do we find Wisdom in the New Testament? To explore some of these questions and the ways Lady Wisdom has influenced our understanding of Jesus\, the Christian Education Committee is sponsoring a Fall Forum which will take place over three Wednesday nights\, Sept. 25th\, Oct. 2nd\, and Oct. 9th. We will gather for supper in Nitschmann Hall at 6:00 p.m. and then hear from our speakers and respond to this topic from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. \nFor our gathering in September\, The Rev. Dr. Grace Ji-Sun Kim\, will be our leader. Dr. Kim earned her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. An ordained Presbyterian pastor\, Dr. Kim serves as Associate Professor of Theology at Earlham School of Religion. She has written several books\, the most pertinent for our topic: The Grace of Sophia: A Korean North American Women’s Christology. Kim will introduce us to the tradition of wise teachings in the world that shaped the book of Proverbs and other Jewish writings. She will introduce us to the personification of Lady Wisdom as God’s partner from creation through salvation history. The Rev. Dr. Lynnette Delbridge and The Rev. Dr. Frank Crouch will lead the sessions on Oct. 2nd and Oct. 9th respectively. More information about their presentations will follow in the October Belfry.

SUMMARY:Central Chautauqua
DESCRIPTION:Central Chautauqua \n“Food\, Glorious Food” is the theme for this year’s Central Chautauqua program which will take place Saturday\, August 24 10:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Come enjoy food with us\, both the mental food of stimulating conversation and the actual food we will enjoy together at lunch. We will begin and end the day with worship. Our two sessions will look at how we eat now and how we will eat in the future. In addition to noting the many ways we get and eat food\, we’ll also consider the ethical questions that are raised by the food we eat such as the impact our food choices have on climate change. \nClick on the links below for a flyer and registration form. These items are also available at church the first three Sundays in August. \nAlso below\, is a link for a survey about food. We hope you will respond to it.  \n2019 Flyer Central Chautauqua \n2019 Registration Central Chautauqua \nhttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C8BTQYB

SUMMARY:Friday Fun Night
DESCRIPTION:Friday Fun Night \nThat’s right. We’ve changed in our name from Friday Night Fun to Friday Fun Night. It just rolls off the tongue better. This month\, Friday Fun Night for our infants through 5th graders will take place on May 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Christian Education building. We will be exploring Psalm 23 and having fun thinking about the ways God’s takes care of us like a good shepherd takes care of a herd of sheep. Supper will be served for our preschoolers and elementary children. Parents should send in appropriate milk and baby food for their infants and toddlers. Parents have the option to go out to dinner together or to join the Care for Creation program\, a showing of the movie\, The Human Element\, in Benigna Auditorium\, complete with pizza and adult discussion. Please RSVP to Grace Budier\, budierg@moravian.edu\, if your elementary child will be attending and RSVP to Pastor Lynnette\, lynnette@centralmoravianchurch.org if your infant or toddler will be attending.
