SUMMARY:Lenten Dinner & Program
DESCRIPTION:Ash Wednesday and Mid-Week Lenten Dinners and Program \nEach Wednesday in Lent\, Feb. 14 – March 20\, we invite all to join us for dinner at 6 p.m. in the Christian Education building’s lower level followed by a program at 7 p.m. This Lent\, we journey with the disciple Peter\, in whose journey we can often see ourselves; a person who is both steadfast and unsteady\, a dear friend and a betrayer\, a follower and a wanderer. For each step along the path\, we follow the lyrics of the hymn “Come Thou Fount” as we hear from speakers\, experience art\, music and journaling and most importantly join together as a community of faith. Please share widely – all are welcome! \nFeb. 14 Ash Wednesday / Dinner: Sacristans ’Corp \nAsh Wednesday: 7 p.m. worship service in the Old Chapel\, with the option of ashes at the end. \nFeb. 21 “Jesus Sought Me” Luke 5:1-10 / Dinner: Men’s Bible Study and Moravian Women \nWho is the disciple Peter? Our student pastor Josh Follweiler will lead us through the Peter stories of this complicated disciple whose humanity often mirrors our struggles in faith. \nFeb. 28 “Praise the Mount” Matthew 16:13-20\, Psalm 19 / Dinner: Music Ministry Program \nIt’s easy to praise God when we’re in the midst of a Mountaintop experience! It’s easy to declare with every breath in our body\, “YES\, Lord! You are the Messiah\, the Son of God.” But what happens when that Mountaintop feeling leaves us\, and we find our souls journeying in the wilderness? Our Minister of Music\, Becky Lepore\, will lead us in a time of reflection as we explore hymns that can serve as a musical compass in reviving our soul and restoring us to a place of praise and thanksgiving. \nMarch 6 “Rescue me from danger” Matthew 14:22-33 / Dinner: Youth Group/CE Committee \nDr. Micah Sadigh will lead a discussion about how we are built for community (Genesis 2)\, as we see Peter leaving his own community of disciples. Where are we in the world of loneliness\, social media expectations\, etc. and how to they affect our mental health? \nMarch 13 “I’m fixed upon it” Matthew 16:21-23 / Dinner: Joint Board \nUsing the spiritual practice of Visio Divina\, we’ll examine different pieces of art relating to Peter’s stories and ask how art can enlarge our perceptive\, and give us grace to listen to another’s point of view? \nMarch 20 “Teach Me”. Matthew 18:15-22 / Dinner: Busy Workers \nWe journey through a traditional Holy Week practice of “Stations of the Cross” but this time with the stories and lessons from Peter; Art\, Music and Journaling practices.

Your contribution through the special envelope or your personal donation\, is sent to CWS to\nsupport these year round programs. If you wish to participate in this year’s CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday\, October 8\, contact: Helen Forasté at 610-691-6035 or hforaste6@yahoo.com.

SUMMARY:Kintsugi Workshop
DESCRIPTION:What is Kintsugi? Come join us on August 26 in Nitschmann Hall to find out. Coffee and snacks at 9:30 a.m. Program starts at 10 a.m. A modest $10 for lunch and supplies will be collected at the workshop. The practice of Kintsugi—repairing broken vessels by sealing the cracks\, then painting them gold—is a remarkable art. The Japanese believe the golden cracks make the pieces even more precious and valuable. \nIt’s beautiful to think of this practice as a metaphor for your life\, to see the broken\, difficult\, or painful parts of you as radiating light\, gold\, and beauty. Kintsugi teaches you that your broken places make you stronger and better than ever before. When you think you are broken\, you can pick up the pieces\, put them back together\, and learn to embrace the cracks. \nAlthough we will change some of the supplies used in the classical kintsugi\, you can click here to see how it’s done\, https://youtu.be/TQW8t6w0Cy4 \nPlease join us on August 26 for this fun and meaningful workshop offered by the Mental Health Team. No prior experience needed. Registration is required and is limited. Please contact Diane Kessler at 610-564-9994 or dekessler5@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Art Show & Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Art Enriching Our Lives \nPlease join us on Sunday\, May 21 at 6:30pm\, for a special evening of art\, art appreciation and spiritual insight. Two of our local artists\, Gene Allen and David Sommers will share presentations\, and we will have a time of fellowship and food as we view their art\, and art shared by art class members. Works of the artists will be available for purchase. We will meet in the lower level of the CE Building. \nGene shares that he was trained and worked as an art teacher and that upon retirement\, he has been focusing on his own art\, and teaching seniors. Many Central members have enjoyed his classes. Nature is the emphasis of his painting. His focus is disappearing landscape\, which has been disappearing too rapidly\, causing drastic changes in the landscape he loves. \nDavid states\, “In Scripture\, imagery and symbols are used to help us understand something beyond our grasp. Likewise\, I will speak about how visual art can further our understanding of Scripture and deepen our grasp of God’s presence in our lives . In particular\, I will share a few paintings that I have presented to Latin American Moravians at various conferences\, and show how to explore a work of art with a series of probing questions\, and thereby help us to participate in the particular Biblical story that the artwork represents.” \nA donation ($10 suggested) will be collected at the door. To help us with planning\, please contact Hank Naisby at hknaisby@aol.com if you think you may attend.
