SUMMARY:Luminaria Night
DESCRIPTION:HELP LIGHT UP BETHLEHEM! Once again this year\, the Social Action committee will be participating in Luminaria Night in the City of Bethlehem. The date is Saturday\, December 11th\, and proceeds benefit New Bethany Ministries\, one of our Social Action partners. We meet at the Church Office (73 W. Church St.) at 4:30 p.m.\, weather permitting; we prepare and light luminarias (paper bags\, weighted with sand\, and with a small tea light candle inside) that are placed around our Church and Main Street corner. Since almost all of this activity takes place outside\, this is a great project even during a pandemic. And the effect of all those luminarias alight is lovely! \nIt only takes about 90 minutes of your time. This is a fun activity for all ages\, families\, visiting relatives\, etc. Please join us. DESCRIPTION:Drive By Sunday from 1-3 p.m.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFood Pantry \n\n\n\nOur team of volunteers will be present in front of the church office building from 1-3 p.m. to receive your donations for the Food Pantry\, The Trex Recycling Project\, and Cynthia’s Boutique.\n\nThis month in the Food Pantry\, we can especially use sugar\, flour\, canned evaporated milk\, boxed milk\, canned soups and canned pineapple. We are beginning an effort to collect more heart healthy foods so any items you find with 10% or less of the daily requirement for sodium would also be much appreciated. If possible\, please bring your items to us in paper rather than plastic bags. \nCynthia’s Boutique: We are now asking for warm weather clothing. Because our space is limited\, please wait to bring in any cold weather clothing until next fall. We are also asking for linens such as towels\, sheets\, and blankets – all of which our clients deeply appreciate. If you can\, please label your bags of donated items.\n\nPlastic Bag Recycling Continues: When you bring your donations for the Food Pantry\, you can also bring in your plastic bags and wrappers for our TREX plastic recycling challenge. All plastics should be clean and dry.   Plastic cereal bags are welcome but must be clean and free of any food particles.  Recycle your plastic as one small way you can help Care for Creation!
