DESCRIPTION:Guests will be welcomed to visit and learn more about the 1751 Old Chapel\, where George Washington and Benjamin Franklin worshipped and which welcomed local Native Americans as well as German settlers in its early history.   The Chapel is still used for Sunday worship\, memorial services\, weddings and other church events.\n\nThe Church Sanctuary was built from 1803-1806.  Guests will learn more not only about its architectural design\, history of music and worship\, but also the living ministries of Central Moravian Church today.  Unique places like the 2nd floor Kleiner Saal will be included on this tour.   A suggested donation of $5/person.   A gift shop with many unique Moravian items\, as well as books and other gifts will be open.\n\nOutside of our regular hours\, guided tours of the Sanctuary and Old Chapel can also be arranged by contacting the church office. A suggested donation of $5/person is requested for these tours.   They can be arranged subject to a tour guide and the church’s availability.

DESCRIPTION:Central is overjoyed to announce that Becky Lepore has accepted the call to serve in full-time ministry at Central Moravian Church as our new Pastor of Congregational Life. Becky brings gifts of loving compassion\, a thoughtful passion for justice\, and energy for bringing together both our congregation and guests in community. We are thrilled that Becky will join Pastor Janel Rice in leading and caring for our congregation in this new chapter of ministry. \nBecky will be ordained at Central Moravian Church on Sunday\, June 14\, at 2 p.m.\, with a light reception to follow. We invite everyone to join us for this joyous occasion as we celebrate God’s call upon her life and ministry. \nBecky will conclude her responsibilities as Minister of Music on June 30 and officially begin her new pastoral role on July 1. \nShe will be installed as Pastor of Congregational Life during worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday\, July 5.

July 12th: Old Chapel’s 275th and America 250! \nCelebrate the Old Chapel’s 275th anniversary (July 10\, 1751) on Sunday\, July 12th with a Lovefeast during our 10 a.m. Service in the Sanctuary. As we have spent this year celebrating the Chapel (especially during our wonderful Lenten program)\, this will be the culmination of events remembering the legacy and celebrating our current ministries in this beautiful space. Following worship\, the Bethlehem Area Trombone choir\, the oldest continuously performing brass ensemble in America\, will play on the Church Green at 11 a.m. and all are welcome for light refreshments following.\nThen stay in Bethlehem as Central joins our World Heritage partners and our greater historic district between Main and Broad for a block party celebrating American 250! \nOn July 12th\, from 12 – 5 p.m.\, the lower church green of Central Moravian Church\, located near the end of Main Street\, will be one of the sites taking part in the America 250 celebration. With gratitude for support from the Bethlehem Area Moravian Ministries committees\, our seven Moravian churches will come together to showcase several of the church bands as well as the headliner\, The Stank Factory at 3 p.m. The Stank Factory is a five piece band inspired by the jazz\, funk\, soul\, and blues sounds of New Orleans led by Moravian University graduate and friend of Central Patrick Kerssen. We also will share free cotton candy\, water and information about our churches at a table on Main Street.\nThe Old Chapel and Sanctuary will be available for tours during this time\, and there will be lots of other vendors\, children’s activities and promotions throughout the day as we celebrate both our World Heritage inscription and America 250 celebrations. \nSchedule for July 12\n10 a.m. Moravian Lovefeast\, Sanctuary.
