DESCRIPTION:Guests will be welcomed to visit and learn more about the 1751 Old Chapel\, where George Washington and Benjamin Franklin worshipped and which welcomed local Native Americans as well as German settlers in its early history.   The Chapel is still used for Sunday worship\, memorial services\, weddings and other church events.\n\nThe Church Sanctuary was built from 1803-1806.  Guests will learn more not only about its architectural design\, history of music and worship\, but also the living ministries of Central Moravian Church today.  Unique places like the 2nd floor Kleiner Saal will be included on this tour.   A suggested donation of $5/person.   A gift shop with many unique Moravian items\, as well as books and other gifts will be open.\n\nOutside of our regular hours\, guided tours of the Sanctuary and Old Chapel can also be arranged by contacting the Rev. Josh Follweiler\,  Associate Pastor at 610-866-5661 (x.201)  A suggested donation of $5/person is requested for these tours.   They can be arranged subject to a tour guide and the church’s availability.

SUMMARY:Tribal Elder of the Delaware Nation (Lenape) Visit
DESCRIPTION:Tribal Elder of the Delaware Nation (Lenape) Visits Central \nJoin us on Saturday\, November 2 at 1:30 p.m. in the Old Chapel for a talk by Lenape retired tribal elder and member of the Delaware tribe of Oklahoma\, John Thomas. For thousands upon thousands of years\, the Lenape people lived in this region\, until being driven off this land by European settlers\, and forced removals from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The 18th century Moravian church was engage in mission work with the local Lenape people\, working\, worshipping (and being buried) alongside them in the 18th century. There are ancestral memories of the Moravian Church and their mission work\, along with the accompaniment with the forced removals. \nOne of the federally recognized Delaware Tribes is based in Bartlesville\, Oklahoma\, and their retired tribal elder\, John Thomas\, has already made a visit in December 2023 to Bethlehem\, toured the Archives\, God’s Acre and met with several members of Central. Now we have the opportunity on November 2 to welcome John back for a talk to hear about his experiences and following his talk\, there will be the option to join Diane Shaw and John at God’s Acred for a tour of several Native American graves. We hope that this conversation with John Thomas and Lenape tribe of Oklahoma can continue into a larger spring program\, following the 2023 Northern Province Synod’s resolution on acknowledging historic trauma and setting forward with dialogue and healing with indigenous peoples.

DESCRIPTION:Central’s Christian Education Programs\nWhether you are a kid\, teen\, or adult\, there are offerings to meet your needs. After being dismissed from the 9 a.m. service\, we will have a weekly children’s choir from 9:30 until 10 in the Christian Education building. Kids between the ages of 6-12 are invited to stay for Sunday School from 10-10:50. Kids between 2-5 will have their Sunday School time from 9:30-10 a.m.\, followed by free play from 10 -10:50 in the C. E. building. Middle school students are welcome to sing and help the Children’s Choir\, after which they will have their own Sunday School. Adult Sunday School\, led by professor of New Testament Dr. Brigidda Bell\, will also return.\nOne of Central’s most popular programs\, Friday Fun Night (FFN)\, will return this year. From 6-8 p.m. on the third Friday of the month\, parents are invited to drop their kids off at the Christian Education building for a night of games\, food\, music\, and storytime. This year\, FFN will be open to 2 – 5-year-olds. We are excited about the growth and vitality of our Christian Education opportunities and sincerely hope you will join us.

After being dismissed from the 9 a.m. service\, we will have a weekly children’s choir from 9:30 until 10 in the Christian Education building. Kids between the ages of 6-12 are invited to stay for Sunday School from 10-10:50. Kids between 2-5 will have their Sunday School time from 9:30-10 a.m.\, followed by free play from 10 -10:50 in the C. E. building. Middle school students are welcome to sing and help the Children’s Choir\, after which they will have their own Sunday School. Adult Sunday School\, led by professor of New Testament Dr. Brigidda Bell\, will also return.\nOne of Central’s most popular programs\, Friday Fun Night (FFN)\, will return this year. From 6-8 p.m. on the third Friday of the month\, parents are invited to drop their kids off at the Christian Education building for a night of games\, food\, music\, and storytime. This year\, FFN will be open to 2 – 5-year-olds. We are excited about the growth and vitality of our Christian Education opportunities and sincerely hope you will join us.

DESCRIPTION:Moravian Women Groups\nThe Moravian Women is an excellent way of finding fellowship monthly with a short Bible study and reflection time. If you feel like you would like to meet other women in the church or that perhaps a weekly commitment isn’t for you\, join the Moravian Women. One option is on the 2nd Sunday at 10 a.m. (in person)\, the other option is the 3rd Monday at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Pastor Janel is leading this new group on Monday nights on Zoom as a way to reach out to women who might be working during the day or needing an online option. Look for\nthe Zoom link in Constant Contact or reach out to Pastor Janel at janel@centralmoravianchurch.org. A short study guide will be shared with no more than 1-2 pages of reading each month.

The Equal Exchange uses their long-standing relationships to secure the best crops. A growing community of citizen-consumers are working together to build a better food system by organizing and engaging in shared learning. If you are concerned about climate change and the threat it has on the livelihood of farmers or how multinationals are controlling our food industry\, join us in supporting Equal Exchange products. We will be offering coffee\, chocolate\, and tea in limited selections next Sunday\, April 30 and May 14. Our plan is to keep the Coffee Ministry available every second Sunday of the month thereafter. Our table will be available in the Northeast corner of the sanctuary\, very close to the Chapel\, after the 9 and 11 a.m. service.
