DESCRIPTION:Sunday School  \nGet ready for an exciting time of Christ centered learning and community as Sunday School returns with classes for Pre-K\, upper and lower elementary\, and adults! Our K-5 Children’s Choir will also begin rehearsing on September 13. Sunday School and Children’s Choir take place between the Old Chapel Worship (9 a.m.) and Sanctuary worship (11 a.m.) services so that all can participate\, regardless of preferred worship time. All are welcome to participate at any time\, including non-members. \nHelp us keep your children safe and happy. Register for the Fun! Registration is required for children to participate in Sunday School and Friday Fun Night. New this year\, a designated adult signature is required for Sunday School and Friday Fun Night dismissal. Contact Children’s Ministries Director Linda de Vries at linda@centralmoravianchurch.org for more information. \n9 a.m. Old Chapel Worship: This worship service includes a children’s message\, and children’s packets and bulletins. (Children’s packets are also available at our 11 a.m. Sanctuary worship – look in the nursery in the West Room or ask a sacristan). Children of all ages\, if parents choose\, are dismissed after the children’s message (around 9:30 a.m.). See details below. Parents are always welcome to accompany their child if desired. \n9:20 a.m. (Approximate): Children’s Choir/Pre-K Free Play: Following the children’s message\, Children’s Choir Director\, Linda de Vries will lead children from the Old Chapel to the lower level of the C.E. building. All ages will begin with a brief time of singing Sunday School songs together. Pre-K children will then go to the 1st floor C.E. classroom for a time of supervised free play\, while the K-5 children will stay on the lower level for a more in-depth choir rehearsal. \n10-10:45 a.m.: \nPre-K and Kindergarten: 1st floor\, C. E. building classroom. This classroom is filled with age-appropriate toys. Let’s play and learn about God’s love together! Classes for our little ones (Potty-trained children\, ages 3 and older) may include a short bible lesson or story\, songs\, prayer\, coloring\, or a simple craft. \nLower Elementary: Lower level\, C. E. building classroom. Younger children will gather around the colorful Noah’s ark rug to engage with bible stories\, videos\, wonderful crafts\, and creative activities to learn about Jesus. Kelly Ahn\, Lynne Brolly\, and Pat Metcalf teachers. \nUpper Elementary: Lower level\, C. E. building (former library). Our older children will enjoy their own space\, complete with colorful rockers. SUMMARY:New Moravian Catechism Zoom - Day Time Group
DESCRIPTION:New Moravian Catechism – Daytime Group \nWhat is a catechism? A traditional teaching tool since the ancient church on the main doctrines of the church. Why is it new? The Northern and Southern Provinces explored our 15th century teachings of the Moravian Church to reveal the guiding principles for our faith and church community together and put together this catechism in 2021. With an eye toward the historical simplicity of “Essentials\, Ministry and Incidentals” of the 15th century Moravian Church\, the new catechism highlights our unity in the core essential beliefs that we share in common\, and our diversity in things not required. It is our hope that in exploring this in several virtual offerings this year\, we can build our community – as the early Moravians saw – “in all things love”. We’ll talk about the understanding of God’s role in our core belief\, as creator\, redeemer and sustainer and our part – in response to God and all of creation with faith\, love and hope. What parts of our faith life guide us to God but are not “essentials” and how do we invite people into this conversation? All of these topics will be explored as we gain a deeper appreciation of the core belief and doctrine of the Moravian Church. To this end\, we will offer two options for engaging and exploring the Moravian catechism. \n\nEvening Moravian Women Group 4th Monday evening meeting (7 p.m.\, starting 8/31). Open to all women.\nOpen to all – Daytime Group 1st Mondays of the month (10 a.m.\, starting September 14th due to Labor Day).\n\nBoth groups will conclude in May. SUMMARY:Morning Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Morning Bible Study is a free-spirited\, discussion-oriented Bible Study group that meets every Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. in the lower level of the Christian Education building and by way of Zoom – with lots of interesting food and coffee or tea. The discussion is led by various members of the group allowing for comments and observations. We gather as a “support group” and offer points of discussion from our individual life experiences. Our meetings conclude each week by 8:30 a.m.
