SUMMARY:Candle Makers
DESCRIPTION:It is time to prepare for the Christmas Holiday Season with the making of Beeswax Candles. Production starts on Tuesday\, September 2 and repeats on Tuesday the 8th and Tuesday the 15th. A 9:00 a.m. start with a break for coffee and donuts around 10:30 a.m. has been the norm. We are usually cleaned up and ready to go home around noon. For those that may be interested in helping\, two stations are traditionally established. There is wick preparation in one room and mold stringing (12 candles to a mold) in the “hot shop” where wax is also poured. The molds cool rather quickly\, allowing the candles to be removed\, hung to dry\, and the molds reused several times throughout the morning. We will produce between 8 and 10 thousand candles that will be used for our Christmas Eve Service and seasonal activities of other churches\, universities and civic groups. \nThe rooms used for candle making are in the basement of the Central Moravian Church main office at 73 W. Church Street.  Parking is available in the parking lot at the rear of the building. Please e-mail harry.tachovsky@gmail.com or text to 484-547-1596 noting the Tuesdays you would like to participate and also whether you’d like to work in the hot shop (wax pouring area) or the wick preparation room.  If you intend to work in the hot shop\, long pants\, a long-sleeved shirt and closed shoes are required.
