DESCRIPTION:Discover Our Shared History: A Tour of Black Heritage Sites in Philadelphia – September 27 \nHosted by the Racial Justice Team \nJoin us for a powerful journey through American history as we explore Philadelphia with a focus on Black heritage and the deeper\, more complete story of our nation’s past. This is not Black history or white history—it is our shared American history\, told more truthfully and fully. This three-and-a-half-hour seated tour will be led by historian Charlene Palmore-Lewis\, who will guide us to important sites including: \n• The President’s House\n• Congo Square\n• The London Coffee House\n• Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church (30-minute visit)\nSchedule:\n• Departure: 10 AM on Saturday\, September 27 from College Hill Moravian Church\nparking lot\n• Lunch: Bring your own brown bag lunch to enjoy en route\n• Tour Start: 1 PM at the Independence Visitor Center (Charlene joins us here)\n• Return: Depart Philadelphia at 4:30 PM\, back in Bethlehem around 6 PM \nCost: $35 per person. SUMMARY:Chapel & Church Tours
DESCRIPTION:Guests will be welcomed to visit and learn more about the 1751 Old Chapel\, where George Washington and Benjamin Franklin worshipped and which welcomed local Native Americans as well as German settlers in its early history.   The Chapel is still used for Sunday worship\, memorial services\, weddings and other church events.\n\nThe Church Sanctuary was built from 1803-1806.  Guests will learn more not only about its architectural design\, history of music and worship\, but also the living ministries of Central Moravian Church today.  Unique places like the 2nd floor Kleiner Saal will be included on this tour.   A suggested donation of $5/person.   A gift shop with many unique Moravian items\, as well as books and other gifts will be open.\n\nOutside of our regular hours\, guided tours of the Sanctuary and Old Chapel can also be arranged by contacting the church office. A suggested donation of $5/person is requested for these tours.   They can be arranged subject to a tour guide and the church’s availability.
