Official Church Boards
BOARD OF ELDERS
The Board of Elders is one of the two major governing bodies at Central Church. The Elders are "especially charged with the spiritual care and oversight of the congregation and all classes of its membership." Elders review matters of worship, Christian education, membership in the church, music, the corps of sacristans and the use of Church buildings.
There are 15 members of the Board: the 3 pastors and 12 members of the congregation who have been suggested by the Nominating Committee and approved by vote at Church Council. They serve 3-year terms. In addition to the one regular monthly meeting of the Board, Elders also serve on various committees which meet monthly or as necessary.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Along with the Board of Elders, the Board of Trustees is one of the two major governing bodies of Central Church. It is the duty of the Trustees to manage the temporal affairs of the Church: to keep all church-owned and leased property in good repair and attractive condition; to maintain records of all financial support received from the congregation, as well as records of all expenditures authorized by the Board of Trustees; to be responsible for the prompt payment of salaries, bills, and assessments from Provincial and District offices, and to arrange for an annual audit of financial records. The Board of Trustees is composed of 14 members of the Church, nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by the congregation at the annual Church Council meeting. Trustees serve 3-year terms. The Board of Trustees meets once a month in a general session; each Trustee also agrees to serve on one or several committees.
