Concert Series
Central Moravian Church is proud to sponsor wonderful concerts throughout the year. Below is a list of our concert series for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009. We hope you will join us for one or several of these memorable performances this year. Please consult our music brochure for descriptions of each group as well as ticket information and other musical offerings.
Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass – Sunday, July 13, 2008 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Come here this nine-piece brass ensemble as they present hymn classics with a contemporary flair. This concert will truly be an unforgettable experience Free-will offering.
The Wittchen Initative presented by the Chamber Music in the Old Chapel - Friday, September 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Chapel. This unique combination of two harps and voice presents an eclectic blend of American styles including songs by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Scott Joplin. This promises to be a lively evening of spirited and inspired music-making! Free-will offering.
An Evening of Moravian Music – Friday, October 10, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Come celebrate the rich heritage of Moravian Music with the Central Moravian Church Choir, the Moravian College Choir, the Moravian College Women’s Choir and the Moravian College Community Orchestra. Free-will offering.
An Advent Organ Concert– Rebecca Owens, organist – Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This program will include favorite and beloved Advent and Christmas arrangements on the recently renovated and enhanced Moller/Walker organ. Frree-will offering.
An Afternoon with The Mainstreet Brass – Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Described as a “journey of emotion and imagination” and showing “exquisite artistry” and “sonorous magnificence”, the Mainstreet Brass will present a concert of repertoire ranging from Bach and Gabrielli to toe-tapping renditions of show tunes and blues classics. Free-will offering.
A Spring Organ Concert – Rebecca Owens, organist – Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 3 p.m. Come spend an enjoyable afternoon listening to favorite organ classics as well as imaginative and festive hymn arrangements on the King of the Instruments. Free-will offering.
