Adult Education:

Learning for a Lifetime:
The Comenius Forum
Old Chapel of Central Moravian Church
3rd Sundays, 12:30 p.m. January - April
John Amos Comenius was a 17th century bishop of the Unity of the Brethren (Moravian Church) and a ground-breaking scholar in educational reform. A group of Central educators asked how they could, like Comenius, demonstrate their passion for education and their disciplines to the wider community.
The Comenius Forum, a series of monthly discussion-based presentations by professors in various disciplines from the Moravian community, was created. All forums will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Old Chapel.
Adult Church School:

Adult Church School classes include the Friendship Bible Class, which meets in the church office conference room. Dr. Howard Cox has been the main teacher.
The Sojourners Class meets in Nitschmann Hall, basement of the Christian Education Building under the leadership of Rev. David Henkelmann. Please call Dave at the church office for more information.
The Coffee Class, which meets in the Zinzendorf Parlor of the Christian Education Building, deals with contemporary issues (and coffee!) and is led by Mike Zuk.
All classes are open to visitors, and run from 10 a.m. – 10:50 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Contact the church office for the leaders of each class for more information.
Comenius, meets every other Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the CE building to discuss books and DVD on progressive Christianity. Comenius Sunday, watches DVDs on similar topics for discussion each Sunday at 9 a.m. in the CE building.
We also occasionally offer adult education in the form of reading and discussion groups during the week or in the evenings. Groups in the past have looked at such topics and issues as the environment, Islam, Gnostic Christianity, the DaVinci Code and the Gospel of Mary, world religions, etc. We have read and discussed The Gospel oF Judas (Elaine Pagels, Karen King) When Religion Becomes Evil (by Charles Kimball), Beyond Belief (by Elaine Pagels), When Jesus Came to Harvard: Making Moral Choices by Harvey Cox, This We Most Certainly Believe: Thoughts on Moravian Theology (by C. Daniel Crews), and Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. We have also had lay members lead clases on women's spirituality, listening skills for everyday life, and faith and global poverty.
Contact Pastor Carol Reifinger or Pastor Janel Rice for more information on any of these offerings or with a suggestion of your own.
